Overview
Enjoy our highly curated African adventure to four of Kenya’s most impressive parks. Throughout your safari you will be enlightened while seeing more wildlife in a few weeks than you otherwise would in a lifetime. There is simply no frame of reference for how much wildlife remains in Africa. This safari is well-suited for photographers of any skill level, adventurers or anyone just seeking to see some of the world’s great nature preserves. With only four total guests in two vehicles everyone gets plenty of room in their own row.
Arriving in Nairobi on September 8, we take September 9 to rest and enjoy our conservation drift by spending the day at both the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage and the Giraffe Centre. Beginning on September 10 our journey begins in earnest…
Samburu National Reserve
The desert environment of Samburu stands in contrast to the savannahs and jungles of our other destination. With three nights at Larsen’s Tented Camp nestled on the banks of the Ewaso Ngiro River, elephants will be likely visitors on their daily migration to water. Leopards and lions are about, you will see the endangered Grey’s zebra, gerenuks, reticulated giraffes and more in this stark landscape.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy
One of the premiere private reserves in East Africa, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy is home to Fatu and Najin, the last two living Northern White Rhinos on earth. Under constant guard, we’ve arranged for you to meet them. The wildlife drives are beyond compare with lions, elephants, cape buffalo, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos all to be found in this magical place. Enjoy three wonderful nights at the Serena Sweetwaters Safari Camp.
Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru is a smaller park with both savannahs and lush landscapes surrounding the lake. Home to highly endangered Rothschild giraffes, both white and black rhinos, olive baboons and a panoply of birds, the short distances in Lake Nakuru allow for very relaxed wildlife viewing and shorter drives.
Maasai Mara National Reserve
We finish our trip with a full week in the Maasai Mara where we will experience first hand the vast herds of wildebeest on the Kenyan plains. You will see the famous Mara River crossing, prides of lions, herds of elephants, male giraffes sparring, leopards and cheetahs- an absolute panoply of nature.
Details
This tour requires a little walking but is not physically demanding. You will be getting in to and out of an SUV. Some of the roads are pretty bumpy. Beyond that this is a very easy trip.
We recommend that everyone wear SPF long-sleeve shirts, bring a brimmed hat and long pants. Some waterproof light hikers are nice but not necessary.
Feel free to pack light – we bring no more than two extra changes of clothes – as laundry is widely available.
