tour info
Overview
Spring comes in as winter and leaves as summer. In between the park roads begin opening back up in mid-April and continue until Memorial Day.
Bears are coming in to view en masse by mid-April while baby bison start dotting the landscape in early May. Elk leave the refuge and start heading in to Grand Teton in April while bighorn sheep start their return trek to the high country.
We start seeing baby bears during the second week of May, wolf pups soon after and elk calves not long after that.
The land renews with green grass by early May, wildflowers by early June as they continue their way up the mountains until mid-July.
This is the greatest transition time in the parks where things change from day to day, sometimes hour to hour against the warming sun.
